The conference was supposed to be an international forum of discussion for researchers and practitioners in occupational safety and health. The event aimed at promoting the exchange of knowledge and experience between different scientific disciplines and branches of industry, at deriving exposure assessment criteria for endotoxins and at suggesting prevention measures. The focus was on the occurrence of endotoxins in the workplace, on their mechanisms of action and on reactions to them as well as on the dose-effect-relationship in humans and on health adverse aspects. Measuring principles were also discussed along with the issue of threshold limit and orientation values.
